Hello Mississippi

ree

We decided to pick up the Natchez Trace Parkway in Tupelo, MS. The Natchez Trace Parkway is a really scenic drive - touching three states Mississippi, Alabama , and Tennessee.

Our first stop, Tupelo, is the birthplace of Elvis. We went to see the 2 room house where Elvis was born. I did not know Elvis had a twin brother that was still born!

The Church the Presley family attended until they moved to Memphis was relocated to this site. They recreated a 15 minute re-enactment of what it would be like to attend the service- it was pretty cool.

This is the same make/model of the car the Presley family used to move the family and ALL their belongs from Tupelo to Memphis in:

Just before we were going to enter the Museum on this site- the sweet old ladies that run in let us know they were ordered to close immediately due to the Coronavirus - so that ended our Elvis tour. We decided to indulge in the famous "smash burger" from Tupelo's Neon Pig

SMASH BURGER

The Neon Pig in Tupelo won Thrillist’s “Best Burger in America” . The burger is made with Benton’s bacon , aged filet, ribeye, strip steak, and sirloin served on a ciabatta bun with melted cheddar, hoisin, comeback sauces, pickled onion, and pickles. We also got chicken stuffed pepper. The Neon Pig is a butcher/seafood market/ cafe. We were greeted by the nicest staff...and the burger earned its rep- we loved it and the stuffed pepper. The shop also supports a bakery that helps employ clients of a local rehab to help get them back to a self sustaining, healthy place. We indulged in the chocolate chip cookies...a MAZ ing!

French Camp

The church bells were chiming as we walked through the French Camp- super pretty!
