Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity-jig

We are home! We are so happy to be parked at our own house, sleeping in our own bed and enjoying our own backyard!

We were welcomed by a cute note and stocked fridge thanks to Janelle, Jackie and Celisse!

We are still in awe of the truly jaw-dropping beauty and diversity of the landscape, food, and people during our 12,596 miles adventure across the USA. We travelled through 22 different states and slept in 32 different beds! We enjoyed hot desert sands and snow covered alpine forests. Oceans, rivers and lakes took our breath away.

We feel like we have really seen and experienced our country and calling it "magnificent" is an understatement.

Icing on the Cake

We were so grateful Janelle was able to meet up with us in Glacier - priceless to cross off a bucket list item with your child!

We navigated around the pandemic, forest fires, oil spills, bear and mountain lion sightings, avalanche, tsunami, and earthquake evacuation warning signs and still managed to have the time of our lives.

Mother Nature was kind to us - we had light rain at the HOH rainforest and at the very end of our trip - and in between the rest was temperate weather ( mostly mid to high sixties) and sunny skies.

We were no strangers to free hotel hot breakfasts, laundry on the run and dish washing in our hotel rooms. Rusty handled schlepping our stuff in and out of places like a boss!

The home fires were kept burning - Rusty was working on the road to keep Walker Services production and deliveries moving, Joanie kept the blog updated to keep the fam updated on the trips, postcards to the kids and grands were crafted as we travelled on!

Rusty's trusty Tahoe served us, without fail, comfortably throughout our whole trip!

" The Shirt" - I bought Rusty a fun shirt for the road trip and he was a great sport about wearing it - though the style is definitely not his "go-to". He actually ended up wearing it almost every day and, without fail, people would admire it. One guy stopped his dinner to come over and get a closer look and one young waiter asked if he could take a picture so he could find it and order one on Amazon!

Special Thanks to our Support Team

It would never have been possible to take the extended trip without the help of these lovelies to let us run a scaled down version of Walker Services while on the road. Thanks to Face Time and cell phone service we were able to keep in continued contact.

Jillian, even though in Florida - kept payroll running- THANK YOU!

Jackie - helped with mail monitoring/ Walker delivery/ banking support/ house / auto checking- THANK YOU!

Janelle helped with house monitoring and security/ Walker delivery support and she gave our pup, Stella a home away from home while we were gone. THANK YOU!

Dream come True

The trip was a dream come true - still in disbelief we actually pulled it off on our third attempt! Thanks to those of you who followed our journey on this blog - we will be relying on this to refresh our memories on the many wonderful sights we were able to behold!

Happy Trails and Sweet Dreams,

Joanie and Rusty

What a long, strange trip it’s been

Truckin', I'm a goin' home

Whoa, whoa, baby, back where I belong

Back home, sit down and patch my bones

And get back truckin' on 🥰
