San Juan Island -
The San Juan Islands ( there are 172 of them) are an island group that is part of Washington State in the Salish Sea. 3 of the islands are serviced by the ferry- we stayed on San Juan Island in the seaside town of Friday Harbor.
Our place was right on the water and we enjoyed watching the boats, seaplanes and the seals come and go!
We did the Scenic Byway Tour to get the lay of the land for the Island.

Lime Kiln State Park
This was our favorite part of the island. We were able to hike a little, play around on the rocks, check out the lighthouse and stake out Orca whales - we were not able to see them the couple of times we were there - but the our time taking in the madrone trees, sitting by the cliffs, listening to the Salish Sea in the sun on a "whale hunt" was time well spent.
Sculpture Park
The Sculpture Park impressed us both. We intended to spend maybe an hour looking at some sculptures and ended up being enchanted for hours at this magical 20 acres! The park includes 5 marked trails and a gorgeous natural pond and over 150 sculptures. The Nature trail also had additional art installations that took us on a fun little art scavenger hunt. We absolutely had a magical experience. We are going to show you each of out favorite 3 pieces - if ever given the chance- do not pass up this beautiful slice of zen.

Prayer Wheels
The prayer wheels were exquisite pieces of art. We appreciated the ability to craft our prayer/wish/ intention and give the prayer wheels a spin!

#2 The Unity Wall
The Unity Wall Sculpture is an everchanging sculpture- reformed by visitors who choose to participate. Those wishing to - can rearrange pieces of the sculpture as long as the change makes sure all the pieces continue to be touching other pieces. Our contribution was to form a heart within the wooden blocks - so fun!

#3 Serenity
Other Fun Sculptures/ Installations
San Juan Vineyards
We ended one of our days at the San Juan Vineyards. The grapes for two of the wines we tasted, the Madeleine Angevine and Siegerrebe ( white, dry wines- we liked them) are grown on the estate. The grounds were very picturesque and it was a nice way to wind down at day's end.
Sculpture gardens look so cool. I love serenity and your addition to the wall was adorable !
