Wild, Wild West

We are having an incredible time on our drive west. The change in landscape has been too incredible for words to experience. We made it to Omaha last night and traveled from Nebraska to Wyoming today.

Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park Museum was a real treat! The site is a 16 acre presererved portion of the original 4,000 acre ranch owned by ”Buffalo Bill” Cody. https://visitnorthplatte.com/directory-posts/scouts-rest-ranch/

The house was more refined ( inside and out) than we were anticipating.

The vintage clothes were so cool - we couldn’t believe anyone could wear those boots!

We loved learning about the history of Bill as a civilian scout to the military and his eventual creation of the “ Wild West “ genre of entertainment and see the collection of carriages he had. The enlisting of Annie Oakley, Geronimo and Sitting Bull as performers was something we had no clue about.

The weather was perfect to enjoy the grounds and have a picnic lunch!

We learned how Buffalo Bill got his name....

... and we enjoyed the bison ...including a 4 month old calf and that's no bull!

Runza

....it's a Nebraska thing....a very delicious Nebraska thing!
